“A topical study is a study of what God’s Word has to say regarding a specific topic. The advantage of a topical study is that it gives you the total picture of what the Word of God has to say on a particular subject.” – Excerpted from “A Topical Bible Study Method” (The Greater Nashville Church)
Prayer Prompter allows you to save passages of Scripture that apply to a particular topic, for instance, “the fear of the Lord”. I created a folder in the top (blue) section of Prayer Prompter with that name. Here is a sampling of the Scripture passages that I have added to that folder as I discover them while reading through the Bible.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
(Proverbs 9:10 NASB)
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments;
His praise endures forever.
(Psalm 111:10 NASB)
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And his children will have refuge.
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
That one may avoid the snares of death.
(Proverbs 14:26-27 NASB)
The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
And He will make them know His covenant.
(Psalm 25:12-14 NASB)
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate.
(Proverbs 8:13 NASB)
He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.
The Lord favors those who fear Him,
Those who wait for His lovingkindness.
(Psalm 147:10-11 NASB)
Praise the LORD!
How blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who greatly delights in His commandments.
(Psalm 112:1 NASB)
If You, Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
(Psalms 130:3-4 NASB)
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
(Psalm 103:10-13 NASB)
Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
(Psalm 86:11 NASB)
O taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the Lord, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing.
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
(Psalm 34:8-14 NASB)
Who is the man who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
(Psalm 25:12 NASB)
The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
A horse is a false hope for victory;
Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope for His lovingkindness. (Psalm 33:16-18 NASB)
How great is Your goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You,
Before the sons of men!
(Psalm 31:19 NASB)
